Youth Development Program

Objectives

One of the main areas of Community Educational Development Foundation (CEDeF), Gilgit-Baltistan is its Youth Development Program. As part of this program, CEDeF organizes youth centered activities for facilitating the holistic growth of youth in its own capacity.

This program is led by Secretary Youth Affairs of Executive Council CEDeF. In his supervision CEDeF Alumni Forum (CAF) and other youth organizations like Nagar Students Federation (NSF) KIU Unit conduct various events.

The objectives of Youth Development Program are as following:

  • To provide platforms for young people to showcase their talents
  • To harness and polish hidden potentials of youth
  • Arranging various youth based sessions in areas relevant to current youth for instance sessions on personality development, spiritual growth, higher education etc.
  • Sponsoring Youth Organizations’ selected activities and facilitating them in our own limited capacity

Sponsored Young Reformers, Gilgit-Baltistan’s School Visits in Nagar Valley

In 2013 we sponsored Young Reformers, GB’s school visits in Nagar Valley. Members of Young Reformers, GB – who were students of leading universities of Pakistan – visited Nagar Academy, Chalt, Shah Wali Model Academy, Ghulmet, Ahmed Faizi Academy, Asqurdass and Morning Glory Montessori School, Sumayar Nagar. In these sessions these students talked about their educational and social experiences. One of the major objectives was career counseling of the students as well.

 

Facilitated Young Reformers, Gilgit-Baltistan

Young Reformers, GB is a student run organization. It organizes various activities for students. In 2013, they were without any office so we facilitated them in the form of providing our campus. They used our school campus over three months in the evenings to meet, plan and prepare their activities.

 

Youth Development Conference 2010

In 2010, we organized our first Youth Development Conference at Ghulmet Nagar. In this conference a PhD scholar and many other leading figures from Gilgit participated and spoke about selected themes. More than 200 students participated in that conference. Moreover, prizes were also distributed among position holders from various schools and college from all over Nagar Valley. Dr. Sajjad Ali and Dr. Muhammad Ismail were also two awardees of these awards for being 3rd and 4th PhDs from Nagar Valley. This was sponsored by CEDeF and NSF (KIU Unit) assisted in its organization.

 

Youth Talent Exhibition 2013

In 2013 CEDeF organized first ever annual Youth Talent Exhibition 2013 with the purpose of bringing youth to a single platform for interaction and exchange of ideas and providing an opportunity for youth to exhibit their talents in different areas on 11th to 13th August 2013 at Ghulmet Nagar.

Youth Talent Exhibition brings students of private and government schools at a single platform and gives them a chance to exhibit their talents. Following areas were included in YTE 2013:

      • Inter-school Competitions in Sports
      • Inter-school Competitions in Co-curricular Activities
      • Career Fair
      • Youth Development Conference

 

In Youth Talent Exhibition 2013 Eighteen (18) schools participated in all the prescribed areas. It was a multiple activity event over the course of 3 days. Following schools participated in the program.

Youth Talent Exhibition 2014

Since Youth Talent Exhibition is an annual event it was again organized in 2014 as well. In 2014, it was planned for four days as compared to three days in 2013. In 2014 new activities like Gatal Bula as well as Football was also included in interschool sports competitions. In 2014, some activities of YTE were also held in Sikandarabad Nagar.

Youth Biyaak

In August 2014, Community Educational Development Foundation (CEDeF), launched its personal and professional growth sessions series for Karakorum International University (KIU), Gilgit focused university students titled as ‘Youth Biyaak’. In these session series experts and leading professionals from different fields conduct sessions related to personal and professional growth.  So far various professors from Karakorum International University, other universities of Pakistan, and other scholars have led these sessions. Some of the areas covered in these sessions are as following:

  • Higher Education
  • Career Routes and guidance
  • Current Affairs
  • Research Skills and Methodologies
  • Ideology and its foundation

On 15th to 17th July 2016, CEDeF organized a three day personal and professional growth workshop tilted as ‘Higher Education and Career Routes: Keys For Success’. An ex-instructor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore led these sessions. More than 120 university and college students participated in this workshop. Participants were also awarded Participation Certificates in the closing ceremony of workshop. Dr. Sadiq Hussain, Chairman Behavioral Sciences, KIU, attended the event as chief guest.

Youth Talent Exhibition 2016

This year CEDeF organized the 3rd edition of Annual Youth Talent Exhibition. This year it was organized at The Learning Academy, Gilgit for the first time. In this year’s event twelve schools and colleges from Nagar, Danyore and Gilgit participated in nineteen (19) activities.
